Pop! OS Upgrade Issues

Background For the past few years, I’ve been quite the fan of Pop!_OS by System 76. Despite the weird moniker, I found it to be a terrific operating system. It’s a derivative of Ubuntu, which is by far the Linux flavor I have the most experience with – it was also the very first Linux distro I ever installed back with 6.06 “Dapper Drake” – which makes using Pop!_OS a breeze… typically.

Back To Hugo

This post makes the 3rd in a row that I’ve written on this blog about moving my site since this will be the 3rd time it’s hopped platforms in about a week and a half. Naturally, the last 2 posts I didn’t bother migrating because… they weren’t particularly relevant since my site is no longer being developed on those platforms. I am starting to think that I might have a bit of a problem, though, since I can’t seem to stop moving my site and tinkering with things.

iOS Protonmail App Update

I’ve been using ProtonMail as my main personal email account for quite a few years now. I’ve been supporting it as a paid member for most of that time, and it received the honor of being the first topic my friend and I covered in our – long since defunct – podcast. While I rather like the look of the beta web app, I find the iOS app to be a bit on the bland side.

JPEG Release Party

I don’t get NFTs. I don’t understand why they exist, I really don’t understand why people are willing to pay any amount of money for them, and I extremely don’t understand why people become obsessed with evangelizing them as if they’re going to somehow revolutionize the world of… being able to tell people you “own” the rights to what is often mediocre digital artwork. One of the things I don’t miss from Twitter is seeing the web3-obsessed jumping to dog pile on anyone and everyone who says anything disparaging about it, regardless of how much that person knows what they’re taking about.

Mastodon Hosting

As I’ve mentioned in a couple of posts, I recently started a Mastodon instance. I’ve used Mastodon for quite a while (and GNU Social before that), starting over at mstdn.io originally before heading to SDF, followed by Fosstodon. The moves had nothing to do with those instances, each of which was great, but more with the normal ebb and flow of my creating and subsequently deleting social media accounts. With Twitter seeming like even more of a cesspool than normal at the start of this year, I decided to once again take part in the Fediverse by creating an account over at mastodon.
